The King’s Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law Society (KIIPS) is dedicated to increasing the accessibility of IT and IP law. Having recently undergone a rebranding phase this past summer, we are passionate about the future and the intersection of law, creativity, and innovation. As the academic year comes to an end, we are now looking for candidates who are committed to furthering our mission in the year to come.

The President will manage a small team for the upcoming year. They must have a vision for the society’s growth and work together with the Vice President to create a clear plan of action. They will also be in charge of creating and planning events throughout the academic year. This will include corresponding with law firms to obtain speakers for events as well as liaising with King’s regarding room bookings and catering. The President must possess previous committee experience and have a genuine interest in IP and IT law.
The Vice President will be a key player in helping the President fulfill their duties. They will work closely with the President to organise events and reach out to law firms to build valuable connections for the society. They will also be responsible for communicating information to the rest of the KIIPS committee. Previous leadership experience is preferred, and a genuine interest in IP and IT law is essential.
The Treasurer will be in charge of handling the accounts of the society with KCLSU. They will also help the society obtain funding for events and socials. They will liaise with law firm graduate recruitment teams as well as the law school for funding, and have a key responsibility to apply for bursaries and grants from KCLSU.
The Marketing Director will be responsible for the creation of marketing material for the society. This includes creating event graphics, posters/flyers, and other kinds of visual content as needed. They will be responsible for managing the society’s social media accounts, and will also work closely with the Communications Officer to draft email templates and social media posts. A working knowledge of Photoshop or GIMP is highly preferred.
The Communications Officer will work closely with the Marketing Director to spread information to the student body and the wider public. This includes drafting emails, posting on social media groups, and doing lecture shout-outs. They must be dedicated to promoting the society over an extended period of time to ensure consistent attendance at events. They will also act as the primary liaison between society members and the committee, and will be responsible for managing the society’s email account.
